Grandfather Fire Personal Prayer

The Timeless Indigenous Wisdom of Prayer through Ritual - Offering Comfort, Encouragement, and Confidence

In the times we find ourselves in, desperate for meaning and belonging, the timeless Indigenous wisdom of our ancestors through prayer can ease us through challenging moments.

What is this offering? How can it support me?

This offering is a gracious invocation in which you and I gather as human hearts to plead with the divine heart. It is a beautiful gift that can open doors and bring clarity, peace, strength, healing, and transfiguration. When a prayer is invoked through ritual, it allows for the influx of the divine flow of the universe to bless us on our path, to accompany us, to guide us, to illuminate us.

Grandfather fire prayers may be called upon for various reasons including seeking guidance and support during difficult times, seeking clarity with making difficult decisions, seeking comfort and strength during times of distress, and praying for healing from illnesses or injuries.

The Ceremonial Prayer

Each person has a unique intimacy with Creator and Spirit. Though my Indigenous roots are based in Mexica Aztecatl cosmology and wisdom, I keep my prayers open in form for all to make meaning and connection in their own unique ways. I begin by calling upon the four directions, our sacred Mother Earth (“Tonantzin Tlalli”), and Creator/Creatress (“Ometeotzin”) and invoking healed ancestors and helping spirit guides of light and the highest order to guide and support us.

We will then start a fire together in my Tlemaitl (my sacred fire-carrying and smudging tool). During the prayer, I will share medicine songs with my medicine drum or rattle, cleanse and bless you with copal, and guide you through heartful prayer, intention-setting, and active participation with our Earth Mother.

Though this offering includes my travel to your Ojai home, I am also happy to host you on sacred land in Upper Ojai, California.

Schedule a Prayer

As a Tlemaitl carrier, I feel a responsibility to be of service to the prayer needs of my community. While not expected, a “love offering” is heartily appreciated for this offering.
